Haiti’s Minister of Agriculture, Fresner Dorcin, has extensive experience in the agriculture sector, working in both NGO and public entities. During his previous position as Secretary of State for Vegetal Production, he attracted significant private investments in the sector. He has promoted more than 30 projects representing investments of more than US$300 million and has created bridges between agriculture and tourism throughout agrotourism. His efforts to encourage private investment and in coaching young entrepreneurs has led to innovations targeting job creation and boosting the economy.
Minister Dorcin is an agronomist graduated from the State University in Haiti and has also studied in France and Guadeloupe. He holds a diploma in anthropology and sociology. He was appointed Minister of Agriculture by the President in February 2015.
